Re: gasometer-Pumping Station G
And if you are interested how these were built here is a scan of a book found at one of the boiler rooms before it was demoed.

We explored "N" in 2009. My photos from back then are horrible..
Re: gasometer-Pumping Station G
Station N was the last holder standing only because none of the local demo companies wanted to leave equipment in the area just during lunch brake let alone over night.

RE: gasometer-Pumping Station G
Great infomation from both of you, ccsucher and SubLunar !
Growing up here in StL in the '40s and onward, I've always wondered about them - I had not realized there were five layers.
They always seemed like things from an antediluvian world.
Thanks!

Soo many good pics!
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

RE: gasometer-Pumping Station G
Has anyone been inside the pumping station? I was walking by today (didn't see a way in, but wasn't really looking that hard). Could see through some windows and it looks neat inside, but I think it's got a foot or two of water in the main room... and been emptied of its machinery (unless it is in the upper area closer to the hwy).
Re: gasometer-Pumping Station G
