Here's an old picture of the bridge I found online ca. 1982.

Does anyone have a present shot of anything in this photo?

I may have some inside bridge shots, I'll check when I get home.

Agreed.

Sub, have you got the prospective shots of Panic done yet? I'd love to see some of those!

Another view. But none of this stuff is in the portion of the Bridge we have access to.

Here's the one I skipped. Doesn't look like it needs to be obfuscated, but if you think otherwise, just yell at me.

I can tell you none of the instruments attached to the floor in either of those pics are in there, maybe some of the wall stuff though.

This is just inside the "Mechanical Room", which is what we've been calling the room accessible by the open hatch. I'd call it an engine compartment, but I don't really see any engines in here, just gauges and levers and whatnot.

This is looking back towards the mechanical room from the middle of the next room.

The rest of this stuff is random shots of everything I could get a decent shot of.

I knwo i said this many times before but this is SO FREAKIN SAD this ship survived the open ocean mine feilds and who knows what else to end up on her side in the mud like a dead turtle turned upside down
I love the pics and it is good that at least some body has some rspect for this fallen lady
and yes i know it just a hunk of rusted metal rotting back inot the water but at one time she was the pride of the men who served on her she had a place in the Strongest Navy in the World and she had a job that was dangerous and could ahve ended her life many times all that to end up like this kind of like when a person who was awesoem at sports and getts cance and turns from a 300# well oiled machine to a 120# bag of bones
Ok ill shut up
GREAT JOB GUYS AND GALS

After she's cut up, the only one of that class of ship left will be the one you can walk through in Nebraska.

I checked on the ship today. They still haven't started cutting on her yet.

I'd imagine the Diesel engines, even though water/mud-logged for many years, would have a pretty good salvage value for their internal parts, whether for restoration of similar vessels or for stationary power plants. That latter use was mentioned to me years ago by someone whose father specialized in removing these and using them in emergency powerplants for assorted customers.
Mech Info: These used either:Two 1,710shp ALCO 539 diesel engines, Farrel-Birmingham single reduction gear, two shafts.
or
Two 1,710shp Busch Sulzer 539 diesel engines, Farrel-Birmingham single reduction gear, two shafts. These Busch engines were reportedly made here in St. Louis! A-B was THE original Diesel licensee in the USA waay back when!
