I may have missed this searching thru all the threads on this site. This is well worth checking out. I have been several times over the years. Not much for access on the Belle side now since they closed the road going closer to it. But still very accessbile on the Freeburg side. My friend and I are planning on Rapelling off of it someday. 
If anyone has any stories they want to add or have heard let me know.
I have heard of people jumping off of this bridge into the Gasconade, I heard 1 got stuck in the mud in the bottom of the river and drowned, but also heard someone has made it. I think you're crazy if you jump off.
This is an old photo of the bridge.
Some details:
Date Built: 1902 by AJ Turlock bridge builders of Kansas
The Rock Island Line across Missouri was a late comer to the field of railroads that served as their competition like the Missouri Pacific, the MKT, the Frisco etc. The bridge is near Freeburg and Belle, Missouri. The Rock Island's last run over the bridge was a freight in 1980. It remains abandoned, but several uses for the route have been considered over the years. I believe that AMEREN-UE, a commercial power company owns the route today. The rails are still intact on the bridges roadbed.

So I went to the bridge today., it is bad Ass and Sooo freaking long. I only walked half way across it and it was a distance. It doesn't just cross the river but also a huge field.
