Awesome.
I'm glad the forums are getting so much cool new stuff added lately. It was so dead for so long around here! Good work. |

| I love how the ivy adds to the character of the property. Do you know anything about this history of this home? It doesn't look that old, and I wonder if it's for sale or if the owners left for any particular reason. Great fortune that it's so well preserved. |

I had mixed feelings on the age of the house because of some of the older details, like the doors and windows. I can't say too much without revealing the location, but I wonder if it was a Busch family home. I couldn't find an address though, and I think it may be on park property. Someone still cares for the grounds.
There's another smaller house on the property that I'm sure is unoccupied, but I haven't checked it out. There were some stables I walked through that had pretty fresh hay and droppings, and a calendar from 2011. _________________

This is a simply amazing house! Must have had younger kids, as witness the playhouse and bball goal - and the tile in that bathroom.
Perhaps abandoned since the RE crash a few years ago?
REAL slate roof = bigga bucks. Ditto on the baths/showers.
Thanks!

Either that or it was a rich family who found a nicer house. I don't understand why it's just sitting like that though. It's in very good shape still.
The basement still eludes me. There was no way down from the inside, and it was locked up tight on the outside. _________________

That's weird. Why would someone build a house without indoor basement access, especially a nice house like that? _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

I know right? There were like 4 different staircases leading upstairs but I didn't find any leading down. Maybe I missed something though. It is a huge house. _________________

This is what t7 found out. Of course, I had to take out some of the location details

But no, this isn't on park property and while some older map images show cars (and Google even shows a horse near the stable!), I doubt the buildings are used for much nowadays. No info regarding the Busch family, and no explanation for why this unknown-year mansion is sitting in the middle of a much lower class area.
Curious indeed! |

Built 1994 - over $20K property taxes (but reduced from $33K [!] in 2010).
PBE is a company whose purpose to manage properties foreclosed upon by the bank.
It took over when a prior owner, St, Louis Campus LLC, went belly up; it was a developer of retirement communities.
It bought it from the last private owner. Maybe its intent was to develop the huge tract for a retirement center.
Since I know nothing about swimming pools - what would be the purpose of the blue tarp lining the pool -
to prevent water from entering cracks? I'd think that over time the lining itself would crack and its purpose would be defeated. |

Nice job! I was wondering about the age a lot. The tarp is a pool cover, and a fancy one at that. Or it was anyway. There are now a few holes in it. It is anchored to the concrete and where it rubs against the rocks is where the holes formed. It's one of those ones that is designed to pull tight enough to prevent water from pooling on top I think, but I guess the holes defeat the purpose because it obviously isn't working now.
What really has me wondering is the 2011 calender in one of the stables. I think the smaller house was occupied until recently maybe? _________________

Given that Google showed a horse near the stables, I'd also guess that someone had been living on that part of the property until maybe last year.
What's the sign at the front of the drive say? It's obscured in street view by the trees. |
