nope, and he was driving it like he thought someone was about to hit him.
On a totally different note: I'll be watching a live rendition of this tonight, amongst other things. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Hmm... So today was interesting for me... I got up, tried to register for classes online... relised my advisor only cleared me for the classes I was going to take so I had to register at the university in person... fine. Then I saw that one class only had two seats left... I was already to make breakfast, not even dressed yet, hadn't shaved... nothing. So I run out of the house, with my dress shirt half on, collar (I have detachable onces) not buttoned, tie not tied, vest unbuttoned and jacket thrown on... I looked great! Left the radio on, turned the lights off and the stove off, forgot to put away the eggs and bacon. Forgot my money and my phone.
So here's where it starts to get really interesting. I'm driving down National getting ready to turn onto Monroe at MSU when my truck suddenly stops excellerating... hmm... Well I turn onto Monroe, which is the street I was headed to anyway, and I no sooner get on the street and the truck just dies... Great. Turn it off and try to restart... no dice, starter is cranking, but there doesn't seem to be any gas getting to the engine, this on 3/4 of a tank. So two gentlemen have pitty on me. They help me push my truck into the adjacent parking lot. One gentleman stays with me and thinks that hooking up jumper cables and trying to give me a jump will work... I'm pretty sure it's not the battery, alternator, or starter, but I let him have at it anyway. Still the engine won't start.
He loans me his i-phone... mind you I've never used one before, so I fiddling with it like a monkey doing a math problem, and then give up and have him dial up the dealership. They get me situated (really the treat me fair, offer a tow company that has good rates and has cheap rental). The tow people say it will take about an hour to get to me... that was about 10:30am and I had left the house at 9:30am. Fun. So I thank the guy who helped me and I go find my old boss at the MSU library, ask him to do me the favor of driving me to my house so I can get some money and my phone... (by this time I had pulled myself together and I was fully dress but my hair wasn't combed and I hadn't shaved). He takes pitty on me and now I have my phone and money. So the tow shows up about 11:45am. I find that if I sweat this stuff it doesnt' do any good so I wasn't worried and it wasn't any big deal he showed up 15 mintues after they said he'd be there. One thing at a time. Anyway so I get to the dealership, the get me set up with a 2012 Chevy cruise for $35 a day rental and away I go. I made it to work 10 minutes before my shift started. Work starts at 1pm. And I still hadn't eaten anything.
Anyway, all said, the ignition something or other has to be replaced... it supplies the juice to the spark plugs. On older vehicals this funciton would have been served by the distributor. Shows what I know about new vehicals. Not as bad as I thought, but still not fun.
And that's was my morning. And I never did get registered for classes. _________________ "Oh my God! Wal-mart's going to march on Poland!" ~ Lewis Black

Part II: Today I decided, after almost 6 years of good service, that the truck must be traded in. Two issues in eight months, I'm worried if anything else comes up the resale value will get worse. So DeeDee and I went to the dealership and we traded for an HHR. 1 year old with only 12K miles. Still has the 3 year 36K mile bumper to bumper warranty (2 years left) and the 5 year 100K mile warranty for mechanical failures. (4 years left). Hehe, I have some buyers remorse right now but DeeDee keeps assuring me we're doing fine.
A couple of good things, DeeDee can hopefully work to get her drivers license now (the truck was a stick and she was a little too afraid to learn with a stick). This will be good. Two, we can give more serious consideration on starting a family. Trucks with sticks not so helpful in transporting baby and wife. And last but not least, gas milage is much better. So, not that I wanted to let go of the truck this soon, but I figured this was just more motivation I needed to get a different vehical. Now after this is paid off and 5 year from now break downs start happening to this car, I'll just have them repaired until the repair bill costs as much as a new car payment. Then I'll start looking at tradeing again. Hopefully that won't be for at least ten years. _________________ "Oh my God! Wal-mart's going to march on Poland!" ~ Lewis Black

That is a very interesting passage. The action is explained a little better in Matthew 21:21-22.
As far as the meaning of the fig tree, people would have understood that a fig tree "in leaf" but "not the season for figs" would have sprouted early. This indicates it is a first crop (go to the Penetuch for info on first crops) but this first crop didn't bear any fruit. That is why it was condemned. Also to understand another meaning, a fig tree is often a symbol of Isreal. This can been seen as Isreal's fruitfulness having ceased, so the Kingdom of Heaven will be taken from her and given to another people.
The explanation Jesus gives to the apostles for this action goes, "So Jesus answered and said to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.'" Mat 21:21-22
It should be noted that vs. 22 is refering to when we ask for spiritually profitable things.
Now, all that being said, I'm not here to convert anyone, I'm not here to debate the Bible. I'm not here to debate the validity of Christianity period. This is just a reply with furthur information to what Sublunar wrote. And so everyone understand this was just a reply of furthur info, I'm not posting anymore on this matter. _________________ "Oh my God! Wal-mart's going to march on Poland!" ~ Lewis Black

Within the Bible, one occasionally finds stories so horrible, one can wonder what their purpose is. Not only is this story utterly bizarre, but it is also absolutely disgusting. A man and his concubine are wandering the streets when they decide to seek shelter for the night, and find a man kind enough to let them stay. That night however, a group of men turn up at the door and demand to see the guest so that they may have sex with him. The owner is unwilling to let his male lodger be raped and so offers up his virgin daughter instead. However, this is still not good enough for the men, so the owner offers them his guest’s concubine and the men accept. The men brutally rape the woman and leave her on the doorstep where she bleeds to death. If that is not enough, when she is found by her husband, he chops her up into twelve pieces which he sends to each of the twelve tribes of Israel. |

Those are a few examples of why I have problems with people taking certain parts of the Bible literally and completely ignoring other parts.
This isn't aimed at you, willard. I'm actually kind of mad at a local pastor who recently went on a preaching rampage about how we shouldn't have sex before marriage.
Here's the deal. If you love someone and they love you back, you should probably be allowed to make whoopie with them without signing a fucking legal contract for marriage first. Why marry someone you haven't even had sex with? What if they're terrible? Or enjoy freaky weird stuff you don't like?
I understand that this is a good thing to teach youngsters to keep them from having babies at 15 years of age. But I don't think you need to cram this down the throats of consenting adults.
So don't fucking fill my girlfriend's head with regret for having sex with me. The pastor himself admits to having been an ungodly person before changing his life and becoming a pastor. So what he's saying is that it's okay that he did it, because he became a pastor afterwards.
Fuck you. Preach about some of these topics and maybe I'll listen to what you say. Otherwise, I'll use my own common sense when contemplating the Bible and its use in my daily life.
I don't need to have someone explain any of the classical literature I enjoy regularly, why do I need someone to explain the Bible to me? I think religion is one of the ways people are taken advantage of most often. You have pastors cheating on wives and molesting children all over the place and passing around collection plates because they want to renovate their church with flat-screens and stadium seating like the church down the street. Why should I rely on someone potentially like that to tell me what I can easily read myself? When people are raised strictly religious, they actually feel guilty for not going to church after a while. Why? Can't you be a good person and donate to charities without any sort of organized, possibly corrupt, Church? I can see going on religious holidays but you're not going to hell because you didn't go to church every Sunday.
Edit: see my last post on the previous page for the weird bible verses that conveniently no-one talks about. |

This is a great example of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-zhNiGlogQ
Also that last story is the story of Lot. The rest of the story is that the daughters got Lot drunk and had sex with him to get pregnant to preserve the seed to carry on the family. _________________ “I investigate things to complete my knowledge, my complete knowledge makes my thoughts sincere, my thoughts being sincere; my heart is pure.”

Before anyone starts quoting the kjv or the nkjv, I would read one of the many good books out there about textual criticism and the different versions of the bible. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong
