When we went the 1st time there was a gravel road just down aways that we pulled off on and then walked back aways to the property.
Recently i returned (last week) to the property and they were working on the road, so you have to park down a much further ways or chance parking in the driveway areas or down in an area where they have vehicles that are working on the road. Not advisable, LOL. Regardless of where you park be forwarned as you may be able to tell with the road view maps, that everyone that drives by on the road outside can see you down there if they are looking that way. Never had any issues either time i went, but just a warning. |

Hey if you can ping me the coords for the nearby tunnel that would be cool, are you talking a drain tunnel or a cave?
And thanks for setting the expectation. _________________ "To argue with a man who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead."-Thomas Paine |

Sure thing. I will get you the coordinates tomorrow and send them in a "pm".
The tunnel is not a drain tunnel. It is more like a cave, but with no real formation w/water (i have no idea how much rain the place has been getting lately, so it might be a majority under water when you visit===hopefully not though). Very easy to see from the road though. When we went to the tunnel there were people parked in the grass down there. We spoke to them, and they thought we were crazy wanting to look at a tunnel (LOL), but just let us look around. We asked them if they used it for a canoe type place, since the canoe rental place is not far, and they just laughed and said no. LOL. |

Hmm......
Anyways, i sent you the information and coordinates to an abandoned school in the area, which is less than 10 minutes from Dogpatch. |

| I also have coordinates to Rush. Few mines that you can enter at, fenced off area, ruins site, and underground stream. Its about a 2-3 hour drive though depending on which area you are coming from. Dogpatch would be on the way to it, if you were wanting to make an all day trip. |

Getting excited about my three day weekend. This is the weekend of the day trip.
I fully expect to be badly sun burned, coverd in scrapes, cuts, bruises, bug bites, and poison Ivy, by Sunday. To me, that is a sign that I had a hell of a good time.
Tomorrow me and a friend from work are hitting the Jordan Creek tunnel and not leaving until I find the outflow of the Natural Well, or am thoroughly convinced it's not there.
Friday I plan on spending almost the whole day cycling out to the Turner's area and checking out some caves, springs, abandonments, and other stuff around there.
Saturday is the day of the big trip down into arkansas to see Dogpatch and hunt for the Spanish Treasure cave.
If anyone can get ahold of Sertile in Real Life that'd be great. I'd love to know anything he knows about this cave before spending 6 hours bush whacking. although the countryside looks beautiful and I'm sure it'll be a nice hike even if I don't find it.
**EDIT** Man, I have the spelling of a 6 year old when I post in a hurry. _________________ "To argue with a man who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead."-Thomas Paine

Be careful there's a chance of rain tomorrow. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Looks like 30% chance of light rain. That shouldn't be too bad. We aren't going until 4:30 or so, so hopefuly it will have had a chance to do whatever it's gonna do by then and we can get a good idea of how much water will be in the tunnel. _________________ "To argue with a man who has renounced reason is like administering medicine to the dead."-Thomas Paine |

I've found that in sw mo when they say there's a 30% chance of rain/snow it always happens... a 40% or 50% means 40% or 50%, but 30% means 100%.
Yet it doesn't work that way in Stl, so it most just be some thing to do with the area or the reporting for the area. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

I dont know how to get ahold of sertile, but if you are wanting information on the old spanish cave, i can tell you whatever you want to know. I have been there more than once.
have fun at dogpatch, and exploring in general.
------
I would use the access road and not the driveway to the old spanish cave. |

I would like to report ultimate day trip success.
We hit Dog Patch, spent like 2 hours in thre, saw everything. we went further south into the Boston Mountains and to look for the Spanish Treasure Cave, and found it as well (I believe) although there is no treasure there now.
I am broken and itchy and sunburned and scratched. So it all went well.
PICS
