The old stone structure shown here is an old Route 66 roadside lookout.

I am not sure what this structure is. It was 3-4 stories tall. Bing shows the tops open, but there were no other openings in it except for 3 small chutes per cell on the railroad side. The whole thing was made from rebar reinforced concrete. They appear to be hoppers of some sort because one cell had a broke open hole in it's wall large enough to crawl into, that was spilling out pea gravel. Inside that cell there was old metal ladders going up the side to the top, but the rungs were rusted away, leaving only the pegs and old rusted panels bolted shut between the cells. Also someone had tied a garden hose off as a make-shift rope to the top.

| Awesome stuff. The old route 66 look out looks like it'd be a fun spot to visit. |

Here's a house by me that they had been working on 2-3 years ago but then suddenly stopped like they ran out of money: http://tinyurl.com/6v8svr7
Have yet to explore it. _________________

I am finding zilch as to the history of the Pacific Palisades area prior to it's DNR ownership.
I did stumble onto this Youtube video --> Click Here
Who was it that was looking for car parts? |

I went to this house today. It was a real bitch to get to. I didn't go the obvious easy way off Lookaway Dr. because it involved walking down someone's driveway and onto their property in the ghetto. I parked on Dundee Ct. and walked through a supposed "park". Ended up slipping and sliding up and down two gigantic muddy ass hills so steep you had to grab trees and shit so you didn't slide right back down, crossed two creeks, and finally got to the damn thing. Not as cool as it looked from 270...
The way we went in was so bad we said fuck it and walked through these people's yard to get out, scared as hell that someone was going to shoot us for being there. There were no trespassing signs EVERYWHERE! Luckily, no one saw us, but I had a story ready about how we visited the park that the map said was there and we got lost, just in case. Honestly, I wouldn't suggest anyone else try and go to this house, because it wasn't worth it. It may have been a little bit easier if the ground was dry though...
