Figured id wave a white flag and announce my presence!Have been trying to find a group located around Springfield for most of tonight and by the wonders of the world wide web ended up here! My interest was sparked when I was 12 or so and the ranch across the street closed down with leaving all the facilitie's doors unlocked
So I'v been interested in urban exploration for the better half of 7 years but never knew there was any organized community behind it until 48 hours ago. Looking foreward to the opportunity to procure the vast amounts of cash and women urbex has to offer but i'm willing to settle for a cheap digicam filled with snapshots.
Anyways, thanks for reading the declaration of the latest newguy. |

Where did you get this information! I demand to know! I do not confirm, nor deny the existence of either of these things!

Hey, you got a woman, so shut up, no getting another, leave some for the rest of us! You'd probably have money too if you'd quit spending it to get every degree the college has to offer. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Either my math is bad, you're not 17, you were in suspended animation due to anal probing aliens, or you fell into a time warp and went back in time two years... cause 12 plus 7 is 19.
I'm guessing C... but knowing some of the abandoned places around there D is a real possibility too. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Oh, erm, I, uh, (insert sentance that doesnt make me look stupid for entering my birthday wrong) whew, glad I cleard that up! Almost look like a complete idiot for a second there
And to answer that first question i went to highschool in "good ole' Nixie missurah'" as my english teacher would say.
And if i may be so bold as to move onto buisness, any particularly newbie level areas to check out i should know about? I'd like to get a feel for things before i start repelling into open mouth caves upside down |

Interesting story: I did actually rappel in Talking Rocks Cave upside-down during the time I was a tour guide there. Have couple of pics of it too. I wanted to get a pic of me hanging upside down without holding on to the rope, but it freaked out the owner's wife too much and she wouldn't snap the picture. I was fine, I had my foot wrapped around the rope and had the belay person pulling the rope taunt, so it's not like I was going to fall while she took the pic. le sigh.
To answer your question: The JC Tunnel & Winoka Lodge are both easy to get to and enter without any problems. Also, peruse the old threads and use the search feature a lot. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Nicotti is right. Those are great newb spots, I still frequent them even now. I'm leaving after I post this, to check something out. I'll post on the 'New tunnel?' thread with results. They look to be great newb tunnels. Also, If you wanna send me a PM I know of tons of other places, and how to access them. _________________ - Y U NO LIKE RANDY?!?! |

i definitely second Jordan creek and winoka lodge being fairly accessible newb spots.
If you start going for the high profile places be ready to explain yourself thoroughly to the authorities....
seeing new explorers makes me slightly lament the foregone days of my careless wanderings into the forgotten recesses of the earth. Wanderings that have turned to a far more continental scale of a more definite public use nature.
My favorite memory is trudging out of a tunnel into a basement completely drenched in mud and explaining that I was underground and this was the quickest way out......then seeing the look of surprise on the local security's face upon learning that their building can be accessed by a 1.8 foot hole in the giant tunnel that they never knew existed ten feet down.......that and climbing across an open elevator shaft while my friend leans out and holds my belt with the stupid belief that if i slip that will save me.
happy trails. _________________ I think something clever is supposed to go right here. |

Explaining to that authorities why you are carrying 50 ft of rope and wearing a helmet with a headlamp is always interesting, especially if you are in a completely industrial area. _________________ Back in Black! |
