I'm liking how you give the general location, makes it easier to see if it's a wild area or not on bing if i cant tell from the photo.
As for the tower challenge: I had wanted the entries to be single towers so I was going to only give you points for the 7 cush tower, HOWEVER, I went back and reviewed the rules that I had posted and saw that I had not actually posted any rule against having multiple towers in one submission, so despite what i meant the challenge to be, you still were within the guidelines of the posted rules thus giving you a big 26 pts for the challenge.
Well worth the skunk dodging I'd say. |
I thought the twin towers would be more patriotic I wish I had a flag or something but I didn't. I looked for a t-shirt or something with a flag on it in a pile of clothes down there, but I found nothing...lol..
BTW, not that it matters, but the cush towers were also built under 370. For some reason there were way more cushions then there were couches.

Mandy was obviously the big winner for this weekend's challenge, partially cause i didn't make my intentions clear in the posted rules, but that's my fault not hers.
She's now in the lead with 60 pts
followed by:
GC 19
Redox 15
Pokey 11
Mandy's set the pace high. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Unfortunately, had you done that, I wouldn't have been able to have given you the 9/11 bonus, cause that had to be posted by 11:59p on 9/11. But considering you have more points now than your 3 three competitors combined I think you probably didn't really need that bonus.

Just have to have both towers be at least 5 cushions tall and have either an American flag or some other tribute to those that died in 9/11 in the pic.
That's 2x for just the towers and tribute, 4x for you sitting on a tower with tribute in hand. |
Also, you did say this when asked about the twin towers... Techically I didn't have a flag so it didn't count for the bonus. I just happened to know where a bunch of couches were when I read the challenge so I went for it! lol!

This week's challenge:
“Couch Cushion Tower” A Variable Point Award Challenge
The Challenge: Create and photo a tower of couch cushions of 5 cushions or more tall.
Challenge Details: Cushions can be gathered from abandoned or non-abandoned couches. A person may be sitting on top for double points, however the person cannot be holding, leaning, partially sitting, or otherwise positioned on anything other than the single tower of cushions for stabilization purposes. Towers must be single stacked. Towers are not allowed to be propped up or stabilized by anything except other couch cushions, however stabilizing cushions are NOT included in point counts. Tower must be a minimum of 5 cushions tall to qualify for points.
A cushion tower may NOT be used for multiple contestants. However, the same cushions can be used and restacked.
Challenge Point Value:
2 points per cushion
4 points per cushion, if there is someone sitting on top of the tower
NOTE: The towers should be built and photographed outdoors. (Cause it’s hard to build a tower to the sky when there’s a ceiling in the way.) However, due to the weather I’m changing this to allow indoor towers too.
As always, faces of persons photographed may be masked, blurred, or other to preserve anonymity.
May be completed once per contestant.
Photo’s must be posted by 11:59pm Monday, September 12th. |
Actually it says "build A tower" so you don't have to count both of them. I have too many points! lol!

yeah I had meant the twin tower idea for the 9/11 bonus only. I thought I'd posted that, but when I reviewed my posts to make sure, I saw that I hadn't. So like I said, I awarded you points based on the rules I actually posted, not on my intentions.
The main challenge ended today you are correct, but the 9/11 bonus ended 11:59 of 9/11. If you look at the post I said the 9/11 tower pics had to be posted by, "11:59 tomorrow," if you look at the day I posted that it was Saturday, so the 11:59 tomorrow was referring to 11:59 Sunday night.
So just to repeat the 9/11 bonus was from the point I answered redox back till 11:59p 9/11.
But as you said it didn't matter cause you didn't have a flag or tribute piece in the photo, so the point is moot anyways.
I thought I was explaining the challenge well, but there was still some confusion so I'll try to be more precise next week.
Just trying to be fair. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Nah, it's cool, tis the nature of the competition, sometimes you get lucky with your finds.
I've already made a judgment for the points, I can't go back on that.
If you're feeling guilty for being so far in the lead you could stop and wait for ppl to catch up if you wanted I suppose... or you could just smoke em all and take the prize at the end. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

I am surprised no one else that lives around here thought of going down there because there are always couches! If you wait a week, there will be others... Bridgeton clears them out all the time and people just dump more. lol... |

Plus that's part of the point of the weekend challenges, you can get some good points for less foraging work.
A hint for this coming weekend, you'll need either a partner or a camera with a timer cause you'll have to have some pics with ppl in them. So find a friend... _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Just to clarify... while all pictures do need to be taken by me personally, is it okay to have friends out scouting locations for me? _________________ My Flickr Page |
