While I did consider doing something special sofa wise for the 11, I think the Saturday Challenge will suffice to put everyone in "higher" spirits. And thumb their noses at any "tower" destroying terrorists.

I haven't decided the specific title, but it'll be something along the lines of: Street Sofa World Champion 2011.

So what time frame do we have for the super sofa challenges? Will they only last that day? Or until the next super sofa challenge? Or the first person to get the correct photo submitted?
Plus what if all the pics I take of sofas actually turn out to be couches?

You can trust me on the honor system not to start taking pictures until the 9th.
Also, you did mention the points for sofas in truck beds or strapped to cars... but just to clarify, what about a sofa in a truck bed that is traveling down the road? They are probably just moving and not abandoning their couch. Are those allowed?

Sofas, Couches, & Davenports are all good 
The Super Sofa Saturday Challenges will be revealed either late Friday night or mid-morning Saturday of the weekend and require all pics turned in by 11:59pm the following monday. Technically they're Super Sofa Weekend Challenges, but it doesn't sound as snappy. The details of the challenge, points awarded, and amount of people who can get the bonuses won't be revealed till the challenge is given out.
I will say two things:
First, the challenges will be more like missions, that you complete and take photos for evidence of completion rather than the scavenger hunt format of the main event.
Secondly, I've come up with 2 of the 3 so far and they are, so far, obvious in their connection to the sofa theme. The 1st one should be fun, and hopefully will remind you of your childhoods as it did for me when i thought it up, but no more hints than that!

Yes, stationary or moving, points are the same, as we have no proof they aren't about to abandon it  , unless it falls under the abandoned vehicle clause (obviously).
