Anybody heard of wonder cave in reedsprings mo? Its an old show cave like old spanish and i believe it closed around the same time. I found out about the cave through an old library book and all it stated for location was "down a ravine dirt road". Any guesses? ive checked the interwebz and other books but i cant find much. _________________ THE THREAD KILLER! |

If you reference the quandrangle map, I think you can get pretty close.

I was able to locate it on one topo map at the library and it was on the Garber quadrangle not forsyth, I don't think this would even place it three miles east of reed spring junction like the book says? So either the book it wrong, or the topo map from the library is wrong??? mIf you look close you can see the road that leads to the cave. _________________ THE THREAD KILLER! |

| Yep, it's actually on the Spokane map. I can see it on my iPhone topos. The books directions are way off. I wonder if it's describing a different cave altogether. |

For peeps not spiffy with maps, when you click the link pan east to where bear creek road comes off 248/160. There is an almost round ridge on the sw side of that intersection, topo shows the cave on the western point of the ridge south of that ridge.
If you turn on aerials you can see a white square area in the middle of the trees west of the ridge, which I'm guessing is the old parking lot. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

Not so much that it's off as they didn't give complete driving directions. You do exit Hwy 65 at a point 3 miles to the east of where Reed's Spring Junction used to be. They just forgot to mention the name of that road (160) and that you had to drive like 2 miles west on it. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

| That must be how the book's directions work. Bear Creek road runs off of 65 all the way to 248. The "ravine road" must be Bear Creek road which seems to have deadended pretty much at the cave after crossing 248. Except now there's a small pond on the west side of 248 where Bear Creek Road now ends. So one would have to go around the little pond -probably on foot- to get onto the road going to the cave. |

I'd say you're right. I have no idea when they built Hwy 248, but it sounds like sometime after the book was written. Which if that's the case then the road may have gone around the pond, but then they moved the road when they built the intersection. _________________ Now I'll be bold, As well as strong

I see the pond at the end of Bear creek rd, but I dont see any signs of an old parking lot or where the road would have gone down to the cave? I do see another pond in one of the valleys directly inline with bear creek rd? possibly cave or spring related? _________________ THE THREAD KILLER! |

I'm wondering if the pond isn't there to sap the velocity of cars flying off the end of Bear Creek Rd. _________________

I think its right about here and the "ravine rd" could be wallace lane, its looks like the one on the topo map that heads towards the cave. looks like 4 wheeler trails all in the area too. Not sure about the parking lot though 50ft from the cave like the book says? _________________ THE THREAD KILLER! |
