I found lots of stuff I hadn't seen before because of overgrowth and whatnot.
Old shooting range
Elephant that I can't believe I have never noticed..
Old style plate. I kept this one...
Hopefully the deer bones will freak out the next person that goes down there. I love scaring people, even if I'm not there...
Old pavilion?
Old boot
Knocked over shelter
Mega pipe..lol

They still use the shooting range.
I wonder if the elephant was from Noahs Ark.
I was just on the other side of the river from you today, riding my bike around the trails under 370/70/etc. |

Can anyone identify this vehicle? It's pretty far gone, I know.. My pics don't help much either! I'm curious to at least know the year(ish)...

Ha Ha that's too funny! We were there between about 2:00 and 4:00.
I was wondering the same thing about the elephant
Are you sure they still use the shooting range? They opened up that new one across the street and I haven't seen anyone there in a long time. Also the building is starting to fall down. I thought it might still be active though which is why I haven't taken a closer look... |

I was out riding between probably 3 and 6pm. Found some interesting things worth checking out.
Well, I thought they still shot there. How overgrown is the actual range? Not much is needed to shoot guns somewhere (just look at the range near Wright City).
The vehicle looks like a 12volt, carbureted.. something. 60's, I'd say. I'd need to see better pics. Is it a delivery van or something? The odd, square grill makes me think it's something unique like an International, but I have no real idea. |

They could still use the range. They sure do have a lot of "no trespassing" signs up. I will try to get better pics of the truck, but I think that's the best I will get because it's pretty smashed. I drove past it a billion times thinking it was just a pile of useless metal. The only reason I found it is because I was looking for the shelters that I saw on google earth. I think it's awesome though. I wonder how long it's been sitting there? Also, I wonder how old that boot is. I would have taken it home but it was private property and it looks like someone pulled it out of the river or something.
So what did you find? |

Machinist mentioned some interesting structures out in the woods near the river once. I'll try to dig that up...
...edit: I must be mistaken. This was the closest I could find to what I was thinking of.

| There was a house that sat right on the levee by the shooting range but it fell down a long time ago. You can see the remains though. |

Judging from the paint remnants, I'd almost bet the vehicle is an old USPS truck - especially if it is RHD. At one time they were not completely white.

| thats still an active shooting range. last time i spoke with the owner he opens every other weekend in the summer. that way he can cut some of the grass. im pretty sure thats an old mail carrier jeep. people can usually buy em, then they just put a paint job on them. oh and you should try an find the MO steamboat the Montana. ive never seen it but would love to check it out in person if the river ever goes down real low. check it out on Wikipedia, it crashed in Bridgeton |

I have only seen a truck at the shooting range once or twice, and they parked at the gate. I have made it to the Montana. It was a bitch! Lol. The past few times that I went under there cops chased us out because whoever owns that land down there started complaining. I always thought it was owned by Bridgeton, but I thought wrong I guess....

| I'm sure there is if you dig a little. I don't think the water was low enough when I went. |
