History is a really interesting subject and I've heard lots of crazy local history stories and myths that are very interesting. In my town there are old stories about a house that was built by Jews and used in the underground railroad and stories of old Spanish Conquistador armor that was found in a cave and lost. There are also stories of lost mines and ancient Native American Villages. Not to mention tons of stories both true and mythical about Civil War soldiers and ancient family feuds.
What are some the old interesting stories from your area? I feel like this is a good place for them to be heard.

The autobiography of Black Hawk is a compelling read and provides a great alternative viewpoint of the early days of the United States and their "relationship" with the natives. Was once a best seller, the first Native American autobiography (1833) published in the US and it takes place in the midwest/Saint Louis area.
