Not a Tornado

This has been bothering me (because I'm fascinated with tornadoes) so I had to track it down and find out what it is actually a picture of.

According to snopes.com

Meteoroligists who have viewed this image (as well as other photos and video taken of the same storm) generally agree that it pictures a mesocyclone with a wall cloud, not a true tornado.

Although some people still believe it is a photoshopped image because of the chunk missing from the left side of the "funnel".

i have been trying to avoid photoshop pics if possible. but if that one is... why would you take a chunk out and not make it look more perfect? i love that pic either way tho

Not a Tornado

I think it's a long exposure of a fire at or nearly at night. Notice how bright it is even though the pole light is shining? Even if it's not smoke or steam or something, it's definitely a long exposure. The flag is also blurry.

Also, here's a long exposure I took of smoke from a fire for comparison.

NC State student Joseph Carnevale, the artist behind the Traffic Barrel Monster, has been arrested for stealing the barrels and "cutting and screwing them together to make a statue," which apparently is a misdemeanor in North Carolina.

Carnevale goes by the name "uliveuburn" and has been a fixture in the Raleigh-area street art scene for a while, notable for his creation of the Boylan Bridge Angry Man. Given the similar theme and creativity it didn't take the local police long to decide the 21-year-old is to blame. The total cost of the damage has been estimated at $360 and a court case is scheduled for July 21st
