Nice! There's also a park right across the river from the arch by the casino. If you cross the railroad tracks and walk down to the beach you can get some amazing views, especially at sunset.

You can also drive down to that beach if you don't want to walk. That's what you have to do at night because if you park up by the park the security guard will tell you to go down there.

In my experience, a full moon is the worst time to view the moon for two reasons:

1) Well I was using a telescope, which reflecs all available light through a tiny lens. A full moon tends to char the corneas instantly. I looked at a full moon through the scope once, just because. There was the unmistakable banging sound as my pupils slammed shut. I couldn't see out of my left eye for 10 minutes. I learned my lesson and only did it one other time after that.

2) More appropriate to your causes, the best time, imo, to view and picture the moon would be during a gibbous phase, as you have done. This is because the light from the sun comes in at an angle and really puts shadows in the craters and you can tell relief in the terrain. Otherwise, during a full moon, sunlight is more direct and it's all lit up with minimal shadowage. But hey, may as well take a few pics of a full moon and see how they turn out. Post them here for me to angrily masturbate to.

3) A nearly New Moon lit with Earthshine.
