Clear your cookies!

Post by White Rabbit »

I had to make some minor changes to the cookie settings of the forum. If any of you experience any weirdness with logging in or out, DO THIS:

Log out (if you aren't already).
Clear your cookies.
Log back in.

And everything should be kosher.

Then you better start digging through your cookies folder so you can delete just the .undergroundozarks.com ones :P

Can somebody explain to me what 'cookies' are? Use small words and short sentences, please.

It's just a little string of information that a website stores in your browser so it can remember you, basically.

At the risk of sounding patronizing, I'd liken it to placing a cyber bookmark in a giant cookbook so you can more easily find your favorite recipe. Or in Hiccup's case, in a book of spells so she can find her favorite curse.

a "cookie" is a file that stores information and is set by a website. the website can then write where you go and what you do to this cookie, including passwords. if you delete this file you delete the stored information and there for your saved password.

To remove the UO cookie in Firefox:
-Click on "Tools".
-Select "Options".
-Click the lock icon labelled "Privacy".
-Select the "Cookies" tab.
-Click the "View Cookies" button.
-Scroll down the list (probably not far) until you find the "undergroundozarks.com" folder. Select it by clicking on it.
-Click the "Remove Cookies" button.

You're done. If you've saved your password with the Password Manager, then doing this does not effect your saved password.

To remove the UO cookie in Internal Explode--I mean, Internet Explorer:
-Get an axe.
-Hit your computer with it.
-Repeat.

No, seriously, here's the process:
-Open "My Computer".
-Open your primary drive (usually C).
-Open "Documents and Settings".
-Open your user profile (should be your login).
-Wade through the annoyingly large pile of cookies until you find: "<yourusername>@undergroundozarks.com".
-Delete it.

This may or may not fuck with your saved password.

But I didn't put any cookies in my computer. I usually just put my cookies in the pantry like everyone else. Hmm, this discussion is making me hungry.
