UE chat room

I think it would be a good idea to have a chat room on this website. Just wondering if anyone else agreed with me???

We could do that, or if anybody has AIM they could start a chatroom there. Or else IRC.

Yeah... I actually would like to have one, but chat software is one of the few things Powweb doesn't allow us to have, mainly because chat software is notoriously resource-intensive.

Someday, when this site is on a dedicated host, we're gonna have one, though.

Can't you just have a link to website that has a chat room meant for Undergroundozarks?

Like get a chat room at http://www.multicity.com/servlet/Websit ... ison/index then put a link on a new page to that site so there can be a chat room but on another site?

Any new ideas for a chat room? I have a friend that is in his final year of school for some kind of computer degree and he might help you set one up.

What about my idea WR, just add a new page to the directory and change the HTML to a chat room HTML (which is free on most sites)

Actually, continually refreshing HTML-based chat rooms aren't allowed on Powweb either, even though they're not nearly as resource-intensive as some of the other kind. We could have one that's hosted elsewhere, but I'm always inclined against using outside websites for features like that. I like to host stuff in-house, which is possible for just about everything except a chat room.

Like add a new button that is not anything close to Phpbb or Powweb (whatever you are using) to a chat room... then (like on my site) you make your own name for the chat room and have your own seperate password. The only downside is you have to log in two times if you want to be in chat and the forum at the same time.

I think that would be to much work. But then again I am lazy. If you use firefox you could just open multiple tabs......I guess.
