Re: Mel's Hole
Well according to the artical that you tried to link to, this Mel Waters has been on the overnight show Coast to Coast, so I'm guessing that's how the truck driver heard about it...lpfan wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel's_Hole

I thought this thread was going to be about one of Action Squad's epic adventures: http://www.actionsquad.org/stahl.htm
That a hole can't be 15 miles deep. If there were a hole in the earth's crust near Yakima that was even 5 miles deep, you would likely have an andesitic volcano on your hands. Sounds like Mr. Waters has been partaking of the local liberty caps

Re: Mel
Giving the benefit of the doubt that this isn't pure fabrication...he tested the hole with fishing line and some kind of weight. So say the hole is 100 feet deep and ends in an underground stream or river with enough current to provide a steady pull that would mimic gravity's effect on the weight....he feeds the line out into the current, operating under the illusion that the weight is still descending.

I did not realize that fishing line is spooled in mile long lengths

Not the Mel's Hole I was hoping to see.
What's the point of making a point if the point you are trying to make is pointless? Do you get my point?
