New Orleans Civil Defense Fallout Shelter
New Orleans Civil Defense Fallout Shelter
The place is still around albiet super abandoned and overgrown. I just drove by it today. This is where all the crooked New Orleans politicians would've gone to die if the USSR had nuked us.

It's about 4 blocks from where I grew up, a neighbohood that got flooded to hell (Lakeview). I've always wanted to get in and have a look around...ahem but that would be tresspassing
Edit:
here is a GE view of the shelter

RE: New Orleans Civil Defense Fallout Shelter
Update: I gained entry only to find the main complex flooded. I'll need waders to explore extent of this location.
Entrance
This shelter is the highest elevation in the New Orleans area.
Construction was completed in 1962. Fell into disuse in the early 1980s.
An eerie place on the inside

Very cool. Your particulate filter looks a lot better than mine. Where'd you get it and how much was it, ifn' you don't mind me askin'?
Looks like you went for the "official look" so folks around there might think you were with the goobermint. I think that's pretty smart. Looks also like the looters got there before you did. That place must've been awesome before it was looted and vandalized. Did you notice the 10 horse generator? Vending machines? Dang, those were fairly new. That place merits some more checking out. Watch out for the snakes.

I'll take bets on a pump system.ropingk wrote:I wpnder if they had a system to keep the water out or if the water is just a lot of years of acumilation
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

Re: New Orleans Civil Defense Fallout Shelter
we need to return there find the pumps clean and repair(ok ok ok so replace them) then pump it dry, and use it for the Underground Headquarters (we would be safe from all the vampires that seem to be flying around springfeild)

Re: New Orleans Civil Defense Fallout Shelter
I bet the pump's on the lowest floor.
wouldn't work, the vamp's around here seem to like to reside in underground, UE areas.(we would be safe from all the vampires that seem to be flying around springfeild)

Couldnt we line it with silver and put crosses up on all the walls and have some kind of constant sunshine????

Re: New Orleans Civil Defense Fallout Shelter
That stuff only works on the original vampires of legend. Todays punk-ass kids... I mean today's modern vampires merely drink blood, dress darkly, pay to have their teeth sharpened, and claim to be vampires. So, none of that stuff works on them.ropingk wrote:Couldnt we line it with silver and put crosses up on all the walls and have some kind of constant sunshine????
No offense to any vampires who may be on this site. I never said I didn't like you.
