Well it's not exactly paradise... A few miles north is the Euphrates River and its pretty cool up there. A lot of grass and fields. And begging kids, lots of begging kids. More so then the other cities we have been through.

There are a lot of places I'd like to visit but most of them are not friendly to those from the states. My intention would only be architectural in nature and not of the robbing persuasion, but you know how some countries are.

That tank is an Amphibious Assualt Vehicle and I was loading a rocket on it that deploys 200 meters of C4 behind it. We use it to clear roads that are full of IED's and Mines. It was right before Operation Steel Curtain, where we went into the city of Husaybah.

As I don't want to get anybody in trouble by asking a military question, especially as it might be classified, feel free to answer with the usual military "no comment" if need be.

As RPG's don't always have the necessary punch to go through certain armor, do the AAV's have enough armor on the sides and top to repel most of those kinds of blasts? Sure, with the right shot, anything can be popped, but I'm more of the thought of protecting as many people as possible in a very bad situation.

Sorry, brain has left town so if I'm rambling, please ignore me.

The angled peices on the sides reflect RPGs. We have small plates just like it on Humvee doors. They are not really that strong of metal, it's just because of the angles. Not all AAVs carry the MTLCCs (the bad ass rocket with C4). They have troop variants and logistics vehicles and all sorts of different variations.

I remember reading Black Hawk Down long before the movie came out and thinking that all things considered, I'd rather get hit by a Stinger rather than a RPG. I have nothing against Soviet material as a proud owner of several Soviet guns, but the RPG's are just a little too unstable to me. If you don't have a dud, there's just too many chances that it won't penetrate or if it does, it won't go off, etc.

You guys have my respect and admiration because there's no way in HELL I'd be there!
