battleship.

Post by piplnr65656 »

The sheepherder and I went and toured a battleship today and while wandering around on the batleship we found that all the cool places were off limits. Then we stumbled into a ladder that just had a chain across it with a sign that said stay out so we climbed over it and started down a hallway and up a ladder into the upper 16" shell storage room for the aft turrent. We got tired of hitting are heads on things while trying to navigate in the dark with a zippo and went home. Tomorrow we are checking out a old abandoned naval shipyard that is supposed to have a mothballed cruiser in it.

That's pretty cool. I've been on one of those before, but I can't remember exactly where it's at. It was in the Gulf of Mexico, between Pensacola, FL and Louisiana.

Yes they are. I lived in Sf for about a year while working on a few big projects we had there. I did a bunch of volentier work on the ss.jermey o'brian the liberty ship there. While I was there and got to go on a 2 day excursion on her. That big steam engine in her is very cool.

Yup, that's the one. I was a little kid when I was there, though.
