USS Cairo

Post by Nicotti »

If you're ever near Vicksburg Mississippi, I recommend going to see the USS Cairo. It's one of seven ironclad gunboats Eads built for the Union during the Civil War. It sank in the 1860's and was found, recovered, and restored in the 1960's. There's a museum with a bunch of the artifacts on display that they found on board the ship too. And it's all free.

More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.
