GPS and UE?
GPS and UE?
Does anyone use a GPS while exploring or to mark locations? It would be a lot easier to find places others are going and share locations with GPS coordinates. Just a thought!
Re: GPS and UE?
there are a lot of guys on here who can give you gps numbers to find places cant say most but a lot do

RE: GPS and UE?
Thats really cool. There should be an archive with the GPS coordinates and names of places in Oklahoma. That might get more people into this hobbie. Kinda make it easier for folks like me to get started and find places.
Re: GPS and UE?
well problem with that is like just giving out directions to places most of the time its cool but every once in awhile you get a moron who will go and trash that place and ruine it for everyone

RE: GPS and UE?
Yea I guess that is a problem. Thats about the worst thing I could walk up on. A bunch of spraypaint in a place that once was neat to look at or even historical.
Re: GPS and UE?
i always use gps, makes it nice trying to either get back to the truck or finding something again.
Re: GPS and UE?
if you ask most will give oyu the numbers you need its just not posted for every one to view

Well thats cool. I will have to ask for the coords before I head out. I have been wanting to go somewhere just need to find the right place. Turner falls maybe.

My Garmin is a constant companion. I've used it to locate abandoned mines, Minuteman missile sites, and all sorts of stuff. I also use it to mark things that look interesting, but that I don't have enough time to check out at the moment. For those that don't have one, I suggest you buy a nice outdoor style (drop and water/moisture resistant, submersible, loaded with topo maps)not one of those candy-assed 'navigation systems' you put in your car.

I have the Garmin Etrex Legend! Its a great machine for a low price. And yes it has been dropped, dropped in water, and left out in the hot car. Still ticking though. I need to get it updated since it is about 3 yrs old now. Maybe I will send it in soon.

Ignore cobcob, he's just cranky from constipation.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.
