I always intend on doing more and posting pictures, but I am so busy I can't. I have enough caves to visit to keep me.busy for a few years. I just don't have the time to do it.
Btw I'm a douche. That is all...

Kinda of the same busy also. I've got lots of pictures I've taken with my phone. I always forget to post them or i'm just to lazy. Anyways I'm heading to a church retreat north east of Clinton. There is supposed to be a cave on the property. Its kinda of weird for the formation it is in. it's in the Imo above the Pitkin limestone. It also shows up on the topo map. Arkansas geological survey blog said they were disappointed. Not sure if they meant they couldn't find or found an there wasn't much to it. that's all the research i could find. strange fact there are no other caves in the area.
hoping if i find it has some length to it.
Anyway ill be sure to post pictures after this weekend.

Hey rockhound did you ever find the cave north of clinton? I think the one you were talking about was called shirley bat cave, is that the one?

Hey so sorry I just now saw the post. I never did make it to the cave. I only had a day to explore the area and couldn't find in takers on going to the cave with me. Good news is its at mount eagle retreat center, its a church camp. So you could most likely get permission to check it out. If you ask the care takers about it, They may refer you to bear cave which will be the wrong cave. I don't believe its the shirley bat cave. I was looking on the topo and geological maps and its just labeled cave. I coulddnt ever find any info on the cave. if you get on the Arkansas geological survey website you can pull up a map. Just put in 935 Beal road and you will get the right quadrangle for the area and i will be marked on the topo. Its in a hollow below the eastern side of the mountain.goldjam94 wrote:Hey rockhound did you ever find the cave north of clinton? the reatreat is north from shirley on the opposite of the red river.
I will send out link for the map later.
It's church folk who run the place so I'm sure they will let you explore the place.
Also i did go to bear cave and it beats any bear cave 10 to 1 i've seen in arkansas.

Cool, found it. I've never noticed that one and I've studied the topos pretty close. I would love to check it out.

I am in the same boat, real life make sit hard to go out and explore
Also I am guessing the younger generation just does not play on forums that much which makes us looking at new content harder.

Well the Arkansas forum is dead until at least 2019, when the ban is supposed to be lifted for all caves in Arkansas

I think you mean in three years people will post all their pics and talk openly about exploring all the caves they are exploring now, eh?
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.
