2019 marks a big change

Post by gnomad1 »

As far as I can tell, the cave ban on caves (in Arkansas) officially ends tomorrow.

I can't find any more articles that talk about a new extension so I think caving is officially a legal activity again. Hopefully this will give UO a new spark in posts and exploration for 2019.

I would call the forest service and see what they have to say.

I was at Devils Den about a week ago and asked the ranger about this even asked for a time frame of when they were going to reopen the caves. he told me there is no time line. Asked him if they were even concerned about it and he just Shrugged his shoulders He wouldn't even give me time of day. Good luck

The last email I received from the local special Agent showed 5 more years.

Has anyone heard any new info about the caves opening back up? I know that the white nose syndrome situation hasn't and probably won't get any better, but hopefully they will open up some of the caves again.

I haven't heard anything first hand about the status of the closure. However, if you want to play it on the safe side, I'd say stay out of them until a positive confirmation comes from the source.
