Abandoned building in Irondale
RE: Abandoned building in Irondale
That's the "Irondale Railroad Building" and it's in rough shape.
I wonder what the foundation across the street is though. Kind of looks like an old school or poorhouse type building that burned down a long time ago, except it had no parking lot. Google Earth only goes back to like 2003 and it looks like it's been rubble for at least a decade.

The foundation across the street was an old school. The bridge connected to the path is this bridge (before the road bridge was built):
Irondale HistoryLink below wrote:The Spencer Academy was built in 1866 and sold to the Irondale School District in 1873. In 1917 the first high school was built. A new grade school and high school was built in 1923 and the gymnasium and auditorium were added in 1931. Students came from Belgrade, Caledonia, Hopewell, Hickory Grove, Rock Springs and Hazel Glen. Our school has now been idle since 1957.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.
