New info on the Happy Hill school! This is probably more for my own records, but in case anyone in the area is interested...
From USGS Feature Detail Report for: Happy Hill School (historical):
"In the extreme northeast part of Camp Branch Township, northeast of Morsey. It was established about 1903 or 1904 when the Burlington Railroad was built and the Greenhill District was divided into New Truxton and Happy Hill. Happy Hill is an idealistic name of location."
Older than I thought. I know originally the tunnel was built for the railroad to go over around 1904. In my original post at the top, I said the tracks were built in 1914 but I stand corrected, apparently.
Currently, there's nothing indicating a rail line on top of the tunnel, except I did find some clinker material that was probably used as ballast.
