More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

Excellent! Did you all stay in one of the cabins? We stayed in the "second" one, and our family stayed in the first one by the pond. They are a bit "fun house-y" right, bc of how much they've settled. And they for sure need new sheets in there!! My husband stayed once in that big cabin by the cave...the one on the "pillars" that you posted a pic of. Not sure I could stay there.

And the big fish you saw, pretty sure they are just gar. I remember seeing lots of them too (we were in our jetboat). They won't bother you. :)

Thanks for finding out more history of the place!

They have a tiny campground across the street from the foundations. We stayed in a tent there because it was only 10 bucks a night. Not sure about the cabins, but the campground doesn't have a public shower. So we bathed in the river.. We were definitely roughin' it this weekend! Good times.

Acceptable. We both had the steak and potatoes. Judging by the flavor, I'd say the steak could've used more marinating but it was good nonetheless. I didn't care for the soup, but it was tomato and bacon soup (I don't like tomatoes) and it was the only alternative to salad. The BBQ beans were ok.
