Crane Creek
Hi I am new to this board. Does anyone know where Crane Creek in Crane, Missouri starts and ends? I love that area and wondered if you could use a canoe on it. Most of it seem kind of small. Thanks!

It starts out west of the city limits, kind of near the Wire Road from a bunch of springs, but there's no real clear-cut beginning point. You have some dry creeks out that way that lead into Crane Creek. Crane Creek is mostly spring fed, which is why it's so damn cold and has trout in it. Those little dry creeks just accumulate enough spring water as they lead west that they eventually become Crane Creek.
As for where it ends, if you follow it far enough, it eventually dumps out in the James River somewhere near Galena just before where Horse Creek dumps into the James.
And yeah, if you go east of the Crane city limits, there's plenty of places that are deep enough to canoe. Lots of places deep enough to go swimming out that way, too, but it's freezing cold.
