Dude, I totally want to go here...

This would be so cool Bonne Terre Mines

And on the way up there I could check out Johnson's Shut Ins and Elephant Rocks park because I've never been to either one of them. Man that would be an awesome couple of days.

I've thought about that a few times in our rambles around the state, just haven't done it yet. I'd give Johnson Shut-Ins a while before heading up there.

Once it gets a little more consistantly warm, Johnson Shut-Ins will likely be a place I take Thejadedfox to show her. Elephant Rocks, too. They're much spiffy places.

December, when the Taum Sauk reservoir retaining wall collapsed. I still get chills when I think what would have happened if it had cut loose during the summer.

I would REALLY like to see the basin, but I bet the security is really tight. I'd like to look into the 7,000 foot long tunnel cut into the mountain and see the shaft the water ran down. I saw that place when I was in scouts on a hike and I've been fasinated with it ever since. The size of that basin is huge.

The Shut Ins is beautiful as is the whole St. Francios mountain region. I hope the flood didn't screw it up to bad.

The Bonne Terre mines are only about 45 minutes to an hour from my house. Unfortunatly, I've never been there.

I remember the story about the collapse, but I guess I just didn't pay enough attention to realize the park had been in it's path.

I have been to Profits Mountain many times there is a or was a real nice camp site and we would go horse back riding it is so hard to belive how big that place really is till you are standing on the edge looking across it---a few years ago they did a big time redo of the inside and hung a hugh canvis linner to help stop the leaks
The bigest thing was that is was built so long ago and it is such a simple process but it still works so good today--well till this little accident happened
