Does anyone know of any rumors or have any stories of the Frisco Line being haunted? Any phantom trains or anything like that?

I've ridden the Frisco line between St. Louis and Newburg twice on steam excursions. Not all the way to Springfeild though.

I really doubt it's haunted...but I honestly doubt anything's haunted.

I've been involved in railroading my whole life and know a great many knowledgable people, and none have ever mentioned a haunting of the Frisco line to Springfeild.

I live near the tracks downtown and on now 3 differnet occasions I've heard the distinct sound of a steam whistle. The tracks I speek of are two seprate branches of the Frisco. One is the old Memphis route that was rerouted several years ago and heads from the Kerney St. Tracks due south crossing Division and Chestnut Expy. The other branch is the old Chadwick Branch that now dead ends at the Southeast Powerplant. Check my post called Steam Whistle.

Also, there are some old photos of train wrecks that happened around Springfield, you just have to go to the History Museum when they're archives are open and look. Also check the Library Center's Local History Department for the old news articals of the train wrecks.
