Road trip to Picher, OK on Sept 12th

Post by Fiend »

Me and Psychosaw13 will be spending the day in Picher exploring on the 12th, which is a Saturday. From what I know, the whole town should be pretty much deserted by now. I have never been there before and I have been wanting to go for a couple of years now. There are a ton of abandoned mines, although most of which I believe have been filled in, and there should be a good supply of abandoned buildings and structures. Anyways, I figure some of you fella's from the Missouri area or anywhere else close by would be interesting in a meet up since Pitcher is in the far north east corner of Oklahoma.

Yup, took a lot, here are a few.

I guess this is kind of an inside joke in the surrounding towns...

U.S. property? Hell yeah I'm gonna trespass

Walking around on the chat piles made me feel like I was kind of walking around on the moon or mars, very odd terrain

Inside the highschool which is now completely deserted, along with the houses surrounding it.

It's artificial. Chat (mining waste) is the reason the town was closed... and the reason St. Joe State Park in MO was about to be closed.
