Big Piney/Gasconade float trip anyone?

Post by PANIC! on the Titanic »

Hey everyone, I would like to invite anyone willing and able to a float we are having In August. "We" being myself and a couple friends from school in Rolla. We will be floating the Big Piney and Gasconade rivers from Aug. 19 - 21 on a 3 day, 2 night fun fest. We expect to camp on gravel bars and at Devil's Elbow somewhere.

Activities will include caving and rappelling as the opportunities present themselves, so be prepared for that as well as swimming, horsing around and having 1 metric FuckTon of fun.

This was just going to be a small friends thing but I think it would be great if some of us from the UE community got together as well.

The more people we get the cheaper it gets, and we already can get canoes for next to nothing, so money shouldn't be an issue.

If you are at all interested, pm me or post in this thread.

Damn, sux.

Anyone else? Come on, we are even camping inside some dry caves located a couple hundred feet above the Gasconade river valley accessible via rappeling... Dont tell me that isn't the definition of awesomesauce.

I was on the Gasconade yesterday. Be aware that its kind of low in spots right now. We took a jetboat, and had a little difficulty getting in in and out, and we had to drag through some low riffles. Hopefully you'll get some rain before your trip!

With the exception of the damned tornado that damn near blew our damned tents into the damned river on Wednesday night, it went great. I will try to get another one going on a weekend before it gets cold so more people from here can go since there were a lot of issues with work and stuff.

If anyone has suggestions on where to go or what to do next, I am open for debate. post here or pm me or something.
