Abandoned nursing home in North St. Louis

Post by Mandi Milenko »

I thought this had been talked about before here but I can't find the thread. It's only been abandoned for 3 years! The scrappers and a fire have really done a number on this place. It was a homeless shelter before it was condemned in 2012, which explains all of the kid stuff there.

This place went from operational to fucked in no time at all. Drove past one day and it was open. A month later, there was graffiti scrawled across the front of it and the windows were busted out. Crazy how fast shit goes downhill.

I don't think I've ever seen a place go down this fast in 3 years. Then again, I haven't explored the city much until recently. It's sad. I think the scrappers have done more damage than the fire did.

Shit, 3 years is a long time. Like I said, it was only about a month after it closed that they tagged all across the front of the building. Did not take long at all.

The funeral home is another one that got mega fucked in no time, didn't even take 3 years.

It sucks that there's assholes out there with nothing better to do than to fuck up someone else's property. Exploring other people's property is awesome. But why vandalize? Vandalize your own shit.

My guess is that means they kick you out of the shelter for that many days.
More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.

I had been wondering where this was after seeing it on the forum but then one day driving around, I saw it. Literally can't miss it.

The nose is getting creative with their tag and adding extra coloring/shadowing now?

Just out of curiosity is the neighborhood this is located in bad? I know a lot of north saint Louis is bad and I actually have been by that area before (I believe that is old north saint since I remember that water tower) but I was just curious. I am fairly new to urban exploring and I have been to places in north county, but now north city, so just wanted to know since you guys have already been.

Any area can become bad depending on the situation at the time. I wouldn't say this is particularly "bad". The building is fairly isolated along a road with a lot of traffic.

Also, welcome to the forum.
