PBS Film "Under St. Louis"

I just got to see the "Under St. Louis" thing that aired on channel 9 tonight, after trying 6 different VCRs trying to find one that worked (thanks to Silverstreak for dubbing it for me). I know that St. Louis has combined stormwater and sanitary sewers, but some of the ones under Forest Park looked really cool. We've gotta investigate that.

If any of you haven't seen it, you've gotta rent this program. Silverstreak found it at his local library.

Would I be able to get that at any libray , or just the main branch ? That would pretty cool to see .

I know it is at practically all County locations, just get on their website and search for it.

Yeah, that'd be awesome!

Also, does anyone know where in Forest Park one can find the "stairs" that lead down into the River Des Peres tunnels? The footage is amazing, showing where a lagoon drains into the tunnels below, giving this awesome waterfall effect.

Yeah I know just where those stairs are. There is a locked grate over them though. I'd like to explore that tunnel this weekend.

The program showed this spot where water was spilling in, and it looked almost like that part in the movie Goonies where they're in the wishing well. You could see sunlight coming in, and water pouring in from all sides. Is there some kind of part near the stairs there where the water drains down?

I don't think the drop shaft is there any more, but I could be wrong. Honestly I hope I am because it would be kind of cool to see it like that.

But I'm under the impression that they did away with it as they tried to bring back the original river course through the park.

We could certainly look around the park, it's been described to me as a square concrete thing with bars around it.
