Exploring Jamestown Mall While Under Active Demolition

Post by Mining »

Location: Jamestown Mall @ 38.820023, -90.249414

Visited once, but never went inside. Meant to go back earlier, but never got around to it. Made the trip today after learning it was being demolished. I had expected to find an empty lot, instead I was greeted by bulldozers. I had never been inside a building while it was being bulldozed, so that was fun I guess.

Crazy seeing those photos. Great job capturing these though. Was posted on Fox2 yesterday that all tenants were to be out of Chesterfield Mall in August this year to clear the way for its demolition. So this looks like it will be a reoccurring theme around the region in the coming years.

Supposedly the Dillard's won't be demoed and will be part of the new stuff going in there... but my guess is after it's emptied they'll drag their feet on redevelopment just like they have been so far. That mall's been half dead for close to a decade now, at least.

More online investigation than onsite exploration these days.
