Missouri exploration

Post by spllash0 »

Haven’t been on the thread too much lately and mostly just lurk, decided it was time to post lol. Explored this place a while back called [**REDACTED**] multiple buildings, all unlocked, and electric. Had some paranormal experiences if you believe in that sort of thing.

Those are super cool pictures! Well I’ve been to [**REDACTED**] over a dozen times but have only had odd experiences a couple times. Just to name a few there was the person standing in front of us and a face in the smoke of our breaths (via pictures above). Other times it was a loud bang in the room next to us, or a fan turning on that was not plugged into the wall. I also have a video of someone or something running through a doorway. Very eerie but very cool experiences. Definitely one of the cooler places I’ve been.

Welcome! Nice work.

Did the lunch and dinner chimes continue to play during any of your visits?

The first time I went out there to scout it out, I was alone. It was like a scene out of a movie: I carefully snuck in the perimeter and cautiously made my way back into the main courtyard area between the biggest/old buildings on site. I was doing an initial reconnaissance, wasn't sure what the security situation was or who might be on-site. Literally just as I walked out into the center of the lot that I'm referring to as the courtyard, these CREEPY ASS fucking chimes started going off. They were rather old and warbly sounding and it was probably the most surreal moment of my entire life. It was made so much weirder by the fact that they were NOT like your average buzzer or bell, they were creepy ass goddamn fucking horror movie chimes. I thought FOR SURE someone is inside, they saw me and are fucking with me. At that moment, I just about shit myself and decided to get the fuck out of there. But then I came to my senses and realized it was probably some automatic thing that was never turned off. I think it was like 12:30pm on the dot IIRC. So I continued on my "mission" because after all I didn't drive all that way just to psyche myself out of it. Found a couple entry points and verified things to my satisfaction. When I came back with comrades to explore it properly, I did manage to get a crappy/rushed recording of the chimes but this time it was the dinner chimes. Don't recall if I recorded it on my phone or camera, I'll see if I can find it today.

And I hate to be that guy, but: Please consider using discretion for "fresh" locations like this. It's rare that spots remain free of vandalism for any length of time, so help show the location some respect and use made up or vague names when you post them online. It doesn't take away from the epicness of the location and it helps keep it standing longer for the community to enjoy. You're the one who risked arrest going there and doing your own research etc after all, so don't give it up to every lazy asshole with an internet connection. I've seen locations that were relatively unknown remain as they were for years until they got blown up on the internet at which point they went downhill/burned/demolished surprisingly fast. For example, when I posted this on my blog, I called it "Asylum #9" and I provided almost no information about it. https://sublunarphotography.blogspot.co ... lum-9.html

So just an FYI, your post might get edited to remove identifying information. Don't take offense if that happens though, it's just to protect the site. Same thing happened to me when I first posted on this forum except my post was removed completely LOL.

Nice find! I’ve had my eye on this place for awhile now. I’ve heard a lot about paranormal activity, really peaks my interest. But haven’t quite found the location. Still digging on maps lol

if you ever wanna go me and my group could take you. the first few times i was there nothing really paranormal happened, then one time i had played with the ouija board didnt really get a response but it did move a few times (i chalked this up to being one of my buddies dicking with us but i really never asked) after that i came back one more time and the whole times i just felt like something was following us so i didnt explore it all again. if you hear bangs above you or near by its most likely a stuck bird or animal, for some reasons in those main buildings they have hella birds trapped.
other than that its still my favorite spot due to how well kept it is and the fact that it still has power. theres never security there but i will say if youre coming from down south going through those corn fields the cops like to sit and will pull you over. heres a few more pictures ive got pretty much the whole place video taped.

Not gonna link the article directly to keep the shitbirds out, but this property is once again up for sale. Sounds like redevelopment plans stalled.

Just left here, the new owners are actually pretty chill about visiting and exploring, pretty much let us explore every building as long as we signed a waiver, except for the garage cause they had stuff in there. Still pretty much how it was before the new owners however they did say they plan to renovate a lot of the buildings, so if your gonna come id recommend doing it within the month. They also have a bunch of skoolies and vans that they live in there, if you're into that. One of the guys that owns it or lives there still not sure how that place works, gave us a bunch of history on the place, and a little breakdown on what the buildings were and how they were used, aswell as opening the elevator shafts and showing us the boiler room. Also, let us ring the church bell. Might end up doing a post about the history and pictures I got there.
