huge isolated cement plant

Post by peterbillionaire »

This cement plant has some amazing climbing opportunities, including a smokestack. It looks 90% inactive, but one small building has power and some machinery running.

As a bonus, there's a mine entrance, too.

I'm pretty sure this part of the complex hasn't operated for many years.

Check out the elevated control/observation room on the roof, to the left.

I like the "spy pictures taken from the trees" shots.

No, the one building that is powered kinda spooked us. I want to drive by at night and see how many lights there are. If the part of the complex with the smokestack is dark, I think that's our best bet. This is off of Cement City Rd. north of Sugar Creek.

Cool spot. I've looked at the aerials of that before, I assumed it was active. There seem to be some abandoned/partly collapsed mines immediately behind the plant as well as the road entrance to the northeast. There's also an air shaft marked on the topos up near those treetops...
