"Castle" across from Mt. Washington Cemetary

Post by LadyDragonsblood »

Can anyone tell me what that "Castle" like building is across the road from Mt. Washington Cemetaryy is?

When visiting my friend in Independence, Mt. Washington was a favorite place to explore...but the "castle" across the raod always held my curiosity more.

My friend had no idea what it was....but she had not lived there all that long.

If anybody knows or can post pictures of that building...I would appreciate it very much.

if you mean the one off of Truman Road, it's called the Watt Webb Castle...

When I was in high school, it was really nothing more than the stone exterior of the castle, it burned sometime in the early 90's...

man, girls used to get so scared going into that place at night...the best way in was a basement door at the top of the driveway that was always open. there was also a very cool spiral staircase that went up through the middle of the place...

very cool memories, i'd almost forgotten about that place; my dad showed it to me when i was very young, late 70's, and it was used as a haunted house then i believe

I think that this castle was torn down a while back. I have heard of it but never was able to explore it.
I went over to the dark side, but just to pick up a few things.

Thanks phisherman_77...that is the castle I was talking about...thanks for the name...I was able to google it and find out a little more about it...and yes...I read where it had been demolished...too bad!

Thanks again...and if any one has any pictures or stories...please post them.

Oh, and I also remember....close to that same area...Truman Road used to pass under this incredible stone arch bridge...is that still there?
