Truman Road and 435

Post by ember »

There's an old building you can see from the Interstate.

One entrance path is blocked with stacks of old cars. Even in the trees.

Is there a way inside it?

Here's the exact location.

Not sure I know what you are talking about. I go down there a lot and there are some old buildings in that area for sure, but I don't know if I have ever noticed that one.

EDIT: After looking at the map, I think this might be a junkyard of some kind if its the place I think it is. I'm not sure it is abandoned. I have certainly never done any business there so I don't know for sure, but it looks like one from the highway.

I believe this is the same site someone from KCUrbex posted about awhlie back. I seem to remember something about a vertical mine shaft being located there. I think it was Hearse that posted about it. You should ask him about that site.

There are some storage caves in that area. They may not be natural ones. Thus it is very possible there is a mine shaft of some kind there. Not sure what the junked cars are for, though.

there's a junkyard next to it.

I got the impression they used some cars to form blockades of the tall building. they're stacked like lego blocks

dont bother, the owner of that site is pretty protective, and that building is packed full of old cars too, its not worth bothering with.

by the way guys. That is a mine shaft. From what I remember it was supposed to go down 1000 ft. You can still see the support for the pulleys and everything from the interstate
I don't know where to start.....

that building is a grain elevator. there are about 4-5 buildings on that site all related to the complex. the far south buildings are fallingin on themselves. it is a well guarded site as they dismantle corvettes and other high end cars. the farthest i ever got in was the first floor of the elevator . it is in the DB on uer......

If you go just a bit north on the east side of 435, you will see an opening

but it's on the west side of the interstate.

is there a tunnel or did you mean to go around the ditch surrounding the east side of the complex?

Hmm, I dont know of anything on the west side, just east. But that dont mean its not there. If this is found, we should all meet up and check it out.

huh? it's huge and you can see the complex on satellite images. how can you miss a multi-story tall building that's visible from the interstate?

what's on the east side of 435 and truman road that you're talking about?

An old mine, supposed to go under Mt. Washington Cometary, something about a spiral staircase that goes to the surface. WR and I went in, we didn't find it. I believe Hearse has seen it tho, but the stairs we missing and it was blocked off up in the hole. I think that part has either been caved in or at least cut off from the rest of the mine.

the staircase did exist at one point and was used as a emergency exit when the mine was in use. good luck getting in as they are renovating it into solar business park. there is 24 hour security as well as patrolls by the sheriff. we wee caught trying to enter last year by the grandson of the owner . he let us drive our truck through part of the mine but mos of it was mud and muck.
