Good restaurants in/around kc?

Post by junkman306 »

Everytime I go up there I never know where to eat. I love joes crab shack and the raifforset cafe is ok and I've eaten at a good steak place at the plaza and a good pizza place at the plaza, but where else is good?
What's the point of making a point if the point you are trying to make is pointless? Do you get my point?

Snead's BBQ WEST OF bELTON ON 58 HWY AT HOLMES RD. (damn caps) Jack's Stack BBQ at 135th &Holmes, Hereford House in the West Bottoms for steaks. Used to be Mamma Tios on the Paseo.(go west of 71 on 85th st to Paseo and then north a bit. 8026 Paseo. Tel#816-361-6625. Excellent Mexican food at great prices. There is a Mongollian BBQ on the Ks side i think on 75th St maybe 87th St. Arthur Brants BBQ in KC.

If you like BBQ, my two favorite places are Gates (several locations) and LC's (one on Blue Parkway between 71 and 435 by the big arch viaduct, the other in Kansas).

Manny's, a local Mexican place, has some real good food. I forgot all about them until I went by there yesterday. It's on Southwest Boulevard, but I forget the exact address. Maybe you can google them.

Philos, a Greek place, is supposed to be pretty good. It is on Truman road not far from Prospect. I have never eaten there.

Of course, there are a ton of good BBQ places, but I am partial to Gates or Arthur Bryant's.

Gates is considered among the best BBQ in the country, so hit that. Smokin’ Joes on Grand near 13th is always good.

If you are north, Strouds is worth going to KC for alone. Anytime I’m back there, I always hit Strouds. And of course Lidia’s is about as good as you can get.

Junkman - I tried to take Viper to one of the nicer Gates BBQ restaurants and he freaked out because he thought we were in the ghetto and about to get shanked or something. So we ended up at some yuppie chain bbq restaurant. But you should try Gates. Jack Stack is really good as well, and a ton of food - it's a little more upscale... you can get bbq lamb, ect.

Was it the one a couple miles east of the plaza?
