I grew up pretty close to that, in Strafford. I'm pretty sure it is related to farm-industry. I know there's an emu farm a little further down (across the street, I believe), and the noises from there can be pretty scary if you don't know what they are. lol

I know that for years and years, all the graduating classes used to tag that watertower, but I've never been up there.

Thats just right up the road from the now closed Highway 125 James River Access. Man I miss that river access. Used to be able to hike back there a ways up the river and have a cool campfire. And man it flooded like hell last March. Almost all the way to the bridge deck.
We are all just sloguns waiting to have our triggers pulled.

The white door on the right of the larger building has a new green aluminum door and the lot is still mowed. They probably just store junk in there, but I wouldn't mind going in.

The water tower next to it looks pretty cool. I might have to snoop around there and climb it some time.

It's not a matter of finding entrances, it's because the building is an an open, very well-mowed lot between a house and a busy road. It's not hidden at all. No sneaking would be possible.

I don't think it'd be difficult at all to get inside either building.

Go for it.

It's on 125 (I think) just a few miles south of 44.

In broad daylight, probably not. Possibly at night, but considering the size and assuming that there's probably nothing of much interest there, I don't know if it would be worth it. To me, the water tower sounds more interesting.

The place looks simi-active. I don't recommend exploring unless it's compleatly abandoned.

No reason not to. If I lived closer to it, I'd have posted pics of an exploration and this thread would be dead.

This was a pumping station. It was built sturdy to withstand a blast, either from the pipeline or war. There used to be a pipeline that ran somewhere... I can't recall at the moment I think Oklahoma City area to Ft Wood. Every so often is one of these stations; by the fort, right off of a county trunk highway there's giant storage tanks and another one of these buildings. I always meant to find out how many of these things there were along the pipeline, never got around to it. I am told there is one by Chesapeake.

Anyway, the oil company cleaned these up (oil company still owns the land to the north, I think, with the water tower on it, and I think it still isn't considered "clean"), the buildings at least. There were giant pumps in them, that were removed and the holes cemented in. The buildings were sold for a song.

The owner of this building is acting on instructions from God, and God doesn't want him to sell it or do anything with it it seems. Just a note of warning there....

Sad to see it going to waste.

it looks like the owner went through some crap getting it so perhaps he is still a little weary or bitter.

Hey Slow, I happened across your mystery building today on the internet. Like Ordog said, it's an olding pumping station. In fact, it's the Gulf Pumping Station.

Here's the website.

Here's a pic from that site.
