Ever think about joining the Ozark Highlands Grotto? It is a huge caving organization in Springfield. They have a meeting the first wednesday of each month at the Library Center. They have tons of books on caves and tons of maps. They also have legal access to most of the caves in Missouri, including some commercial ones. Just a thought. I have contact information if anyone is interested.

I haven't heard many good things about the local grottos. I prefer to explore on my own terms anyway and I'm sure they'd be pretty reluctant to just tell me where a cave is and let me have at it. As far as access goes, I haven't found a cave I can't get into yet so I'm doing alright so far.

OK, Lemme Splain... The Ozark Highlands Grotto Split a while back and now you have two organizations. I was sceptical at first, but thought I would check out a meeting for myself. I know the president personally and talk to him a few times a week. The Ozark Highlands Grotto is all about having fun (while being respectful to the property). We take weekly trips and they are more than willing to share information on caves and such with new members. Basically, its a group of people who just have a blast exploring caves. After the meetings on Wednesday's, we usually go out for dinner and have a few beers. It's a great group of people, I would check it out. I think there are dues, but it pays for mapping the caves and such.

DNR puts these on flash drive now instead of cd. Price is $4.50 per drive. You can have multiple regions put on a drive.

Seems like their online publications site is constantly changing/broken. So calling them and asking for the publications dept, is probably the best way to go.
