Now that I've been in Doling Cave
Well I can officially say that I've been in doling cave. We went at 9:30 this morning. I won't say too much about it so there is some mystery I suppose.
I will tell you this. Just to give you an idea of how knowledgable our cave guide was. She kept telling our group to feel free to ask questions. I asked "when did they start gating the cave?" Her reply: "oh awhile ago" and then started talking about something else.
But I can say I've been in there. Post on here after you've been through the tour and I'm sure we'll have lots to catch up on.

oh and just so you all know, you don't have to go to the community center or whatever to register, just go right down to the cave and you can fill out all the stupid info like your parents names and places of work and phone numbers, even if they are 12 hours away... and info that asks how well of a swimmer you are considering the water in the cave is ankle deep

At the dawn of the year 2005, the east coast faults will show themselves, and the oceans will swallow the heathen devil city of Hollywood, whose legacy is pornography, pestilence, and bad manors. To Nick Nolte we pray for forgivness

We went on the tour of Doling Cave, and then we urban explored Long John Silver's, and that was it.bluecookies wrote:yeah how did everything go with that today? what else did you all do?

I went on the very last tour, so I probably didn't see any of you folks. The cave had some nice formations, the terrace stuff and flow stuff. But the tour was pretty short, especially if you exclude the witty banter of the cheery tour guide along the way. I don't wanna say I was unimpressed, but......I've been in better non-show caves. I didn't even get to wallow in any mud or water. Oh well, worth two bucks I suppose.

It was nice meeting you all again! Being new to this city it's nice to see a large cave but then again there were more bats in jordan creek... good times though

I went on the tour today. I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't that impressive.
The tour guide asked some pretty redundant questions and then treated us like idiots if we didn't know. For example
-What does this look like *points to stick*
me: Umm...
-A TREE! DUH!
basically sums it up. It was fun though.

RE: Now that I've been in Doling Cave
Yeah, like I said I've been inside twice before and I wasn't terribly impressed either time. I found the tour tiresome and restrictive, and the cave really isn't anything special to begin with. That's why I didn't really want to do the tour again today. The second time I went with a class and they gave us a little more freedom to roam, so we probably saw some parts you folks didn't, but again it was nothing special. It's not a very decorated cave. It wouldn't get half the attention that it does if not for the fact that they have it gated 99% of the time.
