Ritter Springs

Post by RaccoonCC »

hey, does anyone know about a cave at Ritter Springs Park? I know theres one there, but not exactly how to get to it. I'm going this weekend so I'll find it no matter what, but directions would be nice. Any ideas?

Okay, there are not one, not two, but THREE caves at Ritter Springs Park. However, the trails there are VERY confusing and I won't even try to explain how to get to them. You can either do what I did, which is walk for miles in the wilderness until you find them all through a process of trial and error, or you can go to the Doling Park Community Center and hope that they still have Ritter Spring maps available, which (remarkably) disclose the exact locations of each and every cave on the property.

There are three, two of which are open to the public. The third, "Bat Cave" is barred. Also, only one of the open caves there is easily accessible. The other has a fairly deep sinkhole entrance, and you'll need at least a 30ft rope if you're gonna make it down there and out again, so come prepared.

Like I said, I know my way around Ritter Springs. Any time you guys want to go, just let me know. I'm free pretty much any time. You do know how to get there, right? If not, it's right next to Fantastic Caverns.

I need to go back some time anyway. I haven't been in a long time, and I need pictures of the smaller cave.

And also, what caves are you interested in looking at? Just Ritter?

And Sertile, you ever think about joining the grotto?

It is a cavers club. They do a lot of cave surveying, cave cleanup and giving tours in caves. Like the weirdo that was tagging along with the tours at doling park helping the tour guide girl.

We stayed after the tour and talked to that guy and he knew everything about everything in the cave world. It was kinda wierd with him following us around with a camera though.

Well there was a level called Bottel del Grotto in the original Game Boy game Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening...

Something tells me this is not about that...
