Psst... Union Station... In Kansas City. Not the student Union.
Well, you know... you put the words "plaster" and "union" right next to each other and a guy's imagination can kind of run wild.

After reading this post I got the uncontrollable urge to see if I could get to the tops of any buildings in the area. I can now say I have been atop Glass Hall. Before this post I had climbed to the roof of Dixie Stampede in Branson. So I guess I have two at the moments, but plan on many more soon. Thanks for the inspiration.

Way to go! The Glass Hall roof is really nice. I used to sit up on the ledge over JQ Hammons Pkwy and draw back when I was an art major. Did they just leave the rooftop access open? They do that sometimes. I've seen chairs up there before.

If you go back, see if you can get into the little house up top that operates the elevator. It's open sometimes too, and you can stand on top of the shaft and watch it go up and down. It's pretty cool.

PS: I can add Culley's Pub downtown to the list, as well as the connecting businesses, but I had a little help getting down...

I have a night class in Glass and after class I went up to see, the chain was down and the door a jar so I helped myself out. Climbed the ladder to the top of the access door and walked around a bit...very cool. I am working on Ellis Hall...That should be entertaining.

It's not difficult to get on the dorm roofs is it? Can't any resident just get the key from the front desk?

Not that I'm aware of... I was certainly never able to get on any dorm rooves that way, and I tried. They'll just tell you they don't have the key, which is probably true. Some don't even have reasonable rooftop access. Freddy, for instance, just has a hatch on the ceiling, so you'd need a key and a ladder.

My mistake, could of sworn that I have heard several people talk about going to the roof via a key from the front desk...always wanted to go, but never had anyone to go with...this was before I was confident to do things for myself...lol. But I am still planning on Ellis as my next rooftop encounter on campus.

You were suppose to be able to get a key but it never ever worked out that way for me. One day freshman year my drunken roomates got it open and we went out there.

I can now add Messiah Mills both of them and a building down in Ava that is being torn down. It was for senior pics and I think my photographer had more fun than me up there.
Anne has left the building.

*YOU* go do it... I don't think the people of St. Louis would like the amount of poo I would produce if I found myself up there...
