Actually, when I go out to my friends land in New Mexico that stuff comes in handy, as do the surgical stuff and military first aid kit. We're like 80 miles from anything even remotely resembling civilization and we'd need a mediflight if anything happened without what we have on us.

For gear that I use, just maybe a Camel Back and a couple of flashlights, maybe. I once went through the Rush mines with three cigarette lighters. There was five of us in there!

What are some good websites that cater more to cavers as far as gear-helmets, harnesses, and lights?

I'm a minimalist.

I carry a few flashlights and my cell phone, but that's pretty much always on me anyway. I have a headlamp, but only use it occasionally.

I've carried a few "job specific" items in the past, like a "die hook" for popping manholes or a rope for climbing.

I want to pick up a lantern of some type and build a chain/rope/cable ladder, as well as get climbing gear, but I've yet to do any of those things despite the fact that I've been talking about it for weeks  .

I need to get a new camera first.

Sweet. I'd like to take a look at that.

I think a sticky on common gear for each type of exploring. Like 1 for caves, 1 for buildings, 1 for ..............
What's the point of making a point if the point you are trying to make is pointless? Do you get my point?

The best light that I have seen so far is the rechargable Inova T-4, It is bright as hell and guranteed not to fade for 2.5 hours. The best headlamp I have senn is one that I am saving for its like 350.00 called the stenlight. Checkout either www.onrope1.com or www.stenlight.com
