White Rabbit... Firediver, Brandofluck, and I are going to be in springfield soon and going to take a class at Petra. We don't really know anything about it. I know a little about rapelling from the Army National Guard buts thats it. You should come with us when we go.

WR, just go and hit the bouldering wall (no higher than the red line and climb sideways) it isn' as easy as it sounds, specially if you restrict your-self. No holds more than three inches.

hey guys in regards to the subject i used to be certified to train for basic repelling skills which by the way theres not much to the "certification" but anyway i used to and still do partake in alot of cayoning and and minor climbing in all honesty actual clinbing is a bitch it is so much work requires so much gear unless you make alotta money its pretty difficult to get into and you must have alot of free time thats why im a big fan of canyoning which reqires minimal climbing and lots of rapelling. the biggest face in between the rockies and appalachians is on the buffalo river in AK. The cost of all the basic repelling gear is probally 300 or less depending on what you buy. a good harness, rope, figure 8, a good belaying devise, some old garden hose and a few other odds and ends. Ive taught alot of people how to repell and how to do it right and safe if anyone has any qestions i would be more than willing to help answer them to the best of my abilty.

We should plan a "climbing day" sometime where people who do, or would like to climb could meet at Petra sometime and do some climbing and bouldering.

That sounds like an awesome idea it would be a good chance for some more of us to meet also. I think we should schedule something like this, how about February 25. I think this would give everyone interested a long enough heads up to ask off at work. How does this sound to everyone who is interested? We might even be able to schedule all three classes(Basic, Lead, and Rescue) on the same day for everyone if we have enough people for it Petra might schedule all classes on this day since some people would be coming from out of town.

I hate that too. However, I need to get better at climbing, so I'm probably going to take the basic classes and start climbing out there.
